Cafe Giardino Lakeside

Being an open mall unit with very few walls and no ceiling to speak of, the task of the redesign was a complicated one. The problem with all mall units is how to give the area its own identity, whilst being hindered by stark lighting and open spaces, barely identified by lightweight balustrades and changing floor finishes.

To overcome this, we wanted to enclose the space with a solid defined structure that would create a real focal point from the mall side and be instantly recognised as Café Giardino. Adding height was also important, while being careful not to create bulk that would block sight lines through the mall for tenants and anchor stores.  This was achieved with the stunning low fin detailed wall and large, delicate, over table arced lights.

Having formed the space, it was important to create a modern, comfortable, relaxing and inviting style. Considerable time has been spent on both the visual appearance and the mechanics of the counter and front of house areas, providing a design that not only looks good, but works to its optimum potential.
