Operation. Tapas Bar

Located in Leeds’ historic Granary Wharf, and one of many food and beverage operations, Bilbao Bar needed to create an impact to draw the customer in. Set within one of the many railway arches, a simple but bold design was developed to maximise the impact of the arch whilst working to the clients preferred layout.

With a tiny budget, clever use of materials and detailing was needed in the form of simple painted timber floor, proposed re-use of existing flooring as cladding to walls and bar and cost effective, simple lighting solutions to complement the height of the arch. With so much height, walls forming areas such as kitchen, toilets etc… we did not want to take them to the arch, so a detail was developed to create these areas as ‘pods’, formed at irregular angles which was then carried onto the bar layout, so as to create a stunning impact. All this set against a simple, understated colour palette creates the look the client was after.
